The Sharon & Welby Showalter family bike trip website

We stayed at the Trails End 2-house rental just across the road from the end/beginning of the 35 mile trail known as the Virginia Creeper Trail.  The trip down in the pickup with Sharon, Eliza and me featured an incident on I-81 where I was cut off by another vehicle and I uttered “you jerk” followed by a question from Eliza to Sharon “Grandma, what’s a jerk?”  I just about lost it then and there. We had a shuttle service next door take us to the top of the mountain near the NC border after I dropped off the pickup at Damascus, VA, “trail town capital, USA”.  The ride down the mountain was too rough for Eliza so she and Sharon got off the trail at a parking area and I went on to Damascus to get the truck and the rest rode all the way back to Abingdon.The men found a local brewery a few blocks away.  I don’t recollect a highlight dining experience.  Sharon and I babysat the 3 granddaughters while all the adults saw a show at the Barter Theater.
